Tasting Notes May 9, 2015

Here's what's in store for this weekends Mother's Day tasting:

Broadbent Vinho Verde $10.49
This Vinho Verde is beautifully fresh with tart green apple, white peach and melon flavors. The finis is deliciously crisp and zesty.

Gruet Brut Rosè $18.99
This nearly garnet Rosè, like all our non-vintage sparkling wines, is aged 24 months en tirage. It has a lovely, bright floral bouquet with hints of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry. On the palate, it is rich and fruity in a dry, Brut Style. The flavor of berries continues on the palate, revealing more strawberry, raspberry and cherry.

Annabella Merlot $18.49
Displays deep brick red color with a hint of purple-plum. The aromas of this wine open with ripe black cherry and a hint of dried plum, which then turns into a silky vanilla mid-palate intertwining the Cabernet-like tannin structure. Beyond the cherry vanilla core, the wine expresses dark chocolate and subtle coffee tones.

Cercius Cotes Du Rhone $16.49
Opaque ruby. Ripe dark berries and wood smoke on the perfumed nose. Lush and creamy in texture, offering sweet blackberry and cherry flavors lifted by a spicy element. Finishes sappy and broad, with gentle tannins and subtle anise and cola qualities. No shortage of fruit here.

Here's what we are pouring this Saturday!

Campus Oaks Chardonnay $12.99

The perfect summer sipping Chardonnay’ Blended from cool Lodi appellation grapes and barrel fermented. This wine is well balanced with forward green apple, butterscotch and toffee aromas, which lead to a smooth mouth filling finish.

 

Uvaggio Vermentino $13.99

This Vermentino is fresh and supple; lively yet subtle lime, quince and pear aromas; flavors of melon and stone fruits.

 

Roblar Pinot Noir $11.99

Roblar Pinot Noir is a medium-dry Pinot Noir and has aromas of bright Raspberry, Blueberry & a hint of Vanilla. Flavors of Raspberry and Blueberry are carried in a mouth feel that is very rich and graceful.

 

Rock & Vine Cabernet Sauvignon $18.49

The fruit was selected from three ranches located in Solano and Mendocino counties and Napa Valley. The Solano County grapes highlight the rich and ripe black fruit flavors, while our Medocino grapes give the wine a nice backbone of acidity and spice component. Finally the Napa Valley grapes provide silky texture and ripe tannins to round out this superbly balanced wine.

Tasting Notes April 25, 2015

 

Annalisa Moscato $11.49

Produced from selected Moscato grapes grown in northern Italy, Annalisa Moscato is soft and delicate with pleasantly sweet ripe flavors of apricot and peach. Enjoy with a dessert or by itself.

 

Zuccardi Serie A Torrontes $16.49

This Torrontes has enticing aromas with hints of white flowers, pears, oranges and passion fruit. On the palate, it is refreshing with great persistence and a delicate finish. All grapes come from old vines in the valleys of Salta, the original birthplace of Torrontes in the north of Argentina, and also home to the word's highest mountain vineyards. 

 

DeMorgenzon Cabernet Rosé $13.99

This crowd pleasing Rosé displays alluring aromas and juicy flavors of pomegranate, watermelon and strawberries, accented with delicate floral and spice hints.

 

Cinnabar Mercury Rising $26.99

It has cherry and red plum aromas with suggestions of tobacco leaf, vanilla and zesty Earl Grey tea. Framed by firm tannins, balance acidity and a rich mouth feel, the palate is layered with black cherry, blackberry, dark chocolate, mushroom, spice and toasted oak. Varietal Content: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Petite Sirah.

Tasting Notes April 18, 2015

We have a new addition to the shelves; four fabulous wines from the McManis Vineyards! Stop by this Saturday to sample four of their wines.

McManis Pinot Grigio $12.49
Light straw in color the 2013 Pinot Grigio from McManis Family Vineyards is a nose full of citrus scents. Lemon, Lime and Grapefruit are all present. While the wine is crisp, there is a noticeable weight to it. The flavors anticipated by the olfactory senses are abundantly delivered. The finish has a hint of mineral character.

McManis Viognier $13.99
The fruit for our 2013 Viognier was harvested between September 6 and Sept. 8th, 2013. The majority of fruit came from our own Estate Vineyards and averaged 27.9 Brix at harvest. The juice was cold fermented in Stainless Steel to retain the unique fruit characteristics of Viognier.

McManis Syrah $12.49
Our 2013 McManis Family Vineyards Syrah shows aromas of bright ripe blackberry with cherries and currants with a subtle bouquet of vanilla oak and toffee. The wine is medium purple in color with a youthful hue. At bottling, the wine showed dark berry fruit flavors and finishes rich and round with subtle notes of toasty oak and a lingering finish.

McManis Barbera $13.99
The 2013 Jamie Lynn Vineyard Barbera from McManis Family Vineyards is medium ruby in color. Bright, focused, Red Raspberry is the predominant fruit. However, black fruit and Cherry are also found. There is also faint clove contributed from oak aging. The wine is medium bodied, with soft medium tannins. The acidity of the wine amplifies the fruit flavors, and a nice hint of Mocha lingers long after the wine has been swallowed.

Tasting Notes April 11, 2015

Barboursville Riesling $17.49

Barboursville Riesling is a dry white wine with a hint of sweetness. very delicate with a charming, bouquet of honey and almonds. Good balance and clean earthy finish. It would pair perfectly with light, smoked fish, turkey and cheese; may be served as an aperitif.

Duck Pond Pinot Gris $15.99

The 2014 growing season was an epic vintage. The spring was warm and dry, leading to a good fruit set, and the grapes achieved optimal ripeness. the 2014 Duck Pond Pinot Gris displays aromas and flavors of nectarine, lemon zest and cantaloupe. The wine's acidity makes it a perfect partner to an array of seafood, but it's very enjoyable by itself. 

Milbrandt Cabernet Sauvignon Traditions $17.99

This Cabernet Sauvignon is dark, velvety and complex with layered flavors of black cherry, blackberry, cassis, mocha and a hint of dried savory herbs, a perfect example of why Cabernet is "King" in Washington. 

Pozzan Zinfandel Back Barn $21.49 

The wine is dark ruby to purple color. The enticing nose has brambly berries, black pepper, stony minerals, and dead wood embers, candied violets, baking spices, vanilla bean and a touch of bittersweet chocolate. This has medium body with moderate tannins and good acidity. On the palate peppery berries and charred wood come through first with minerals and spice coming in on the back end. The finish has good length with dark chocolate and a candied floral note popping out.
